Apple Almond Slice
Ingredients
185g Plain Flour
125g Butter or Margarine
1 Egg Yolk
1 Tablespoon Milk
8 Apples; peeled, cored and sliced
220g CSR White Sugar
1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cardamom
2 Egg Whites; beaten until stiff
60g Sliced Almonds
Method
1 : Place flour in bowl and cut in butter or margarine until it forms crumbs.
2 : Beat egg yolk with milk and stir into flour mixture.
3 : Knead lightly on a floured surface and then press onto the base of a baking tin (approximately 30 x 23 x 5cm).
4 : Spread sliced apples over surface.
5 : Mix CSR White Sugar and cardamom together and sprinkle over apples. Mix beaten egg white and almonds
together and spread over surface of apples.
6 : Bake in oven preheated to 180oC for about 50 mins or until cooked. Allow to cool and cut into slices.
