250g Plain Flour
1 x 7g Sachet Active Dry Yeast
1 Large Egg, beaten
155g Unsalted Butter, softened
1 Teaspoon CSR White Sugar
30g Vegetable Oil for frying
Jam of choice
1 : Sift flour and yeast together in a bowl.
2 : Mix egg, butter and CSR White Sugar together and beat into flour. Beat to form a smooth elastic dough adding
a little more flour if necessary.
3 : Stand, covered, in a warm draught free place until the dough has doubled in bulk (1 to 1 1/2 hours).
4 : Knock the dough down and roll out on a floured board to 5mm thick. Cut into rounds about 6cm in diameter
and leave on a floured board in a warm, draught free place for about 30 mins.
5 : Heat oil in a heavy frying pan and fry the Dalken a few at a time on both sides. Keep warm until all are cooked.
6 : Brush tops with melted butter, spread with a layer of the jam and serve immediately.
